Go with the flow at this fun, active and metaphysical hula hooping event taught by Jennifer Smith and Erin Delaplain of St. Louis, MO.
Hula Hoops will be available, but it is suggested to bring your own due to limited quantities if possible.
Workshop Details & Instructor Bios:
10 a.m.: "Square One: Mindful Movement"
This beginner workshop will inspire you to kick-start your hula-hoop journey and encourage you to explore the endless possibilities with your hoop. We will be drilling some basic motions that will set a solid foundation for you to build on such as the Weave, Lasso, and Smears. We will also explore Jump-Throughs and Poses so that you feel confident in the center of your circle when continuing your journey. No experience required.
- Hula Hoops will be provided, but encouraged to bring your own.
- Special "mini-workshops" (tricks such as Waist Hooping, Chest Rolls, etc.) will be offered at the end for those who are interested.
- Bring a water bottle & smile!
12-1PM: "Freedom of Flow" by RinSpins
In this one hour workshop, we will dive into the art of continuous movement! Flow fundamentals include fancy footwork, fierce and flowy hands, and total body engagement. We will be exploring mindfulness techniques to get us out of our heads and into freely moving our bodies. Let’s come together, let go, and let flow.
Jennifer Smith - HennyMon Hoops
Jen has been hooping for over three years in the region and is a hula hooping instructor. She teaches hula hooping as another form of meditation, yoga, and also as a metaphysical experience. She has performed throughout the region with double hoops, LED performances and dancing with fire.
Erin Delaplain - Rinspins:
Erin has been hoop dancing for 3.5 years now. She loves to paint the sky with her lights through spinning fire props. A huge passion for Erin has been teaching children the joy and benefits that hula hooping can bring into their lives. Erin has been seen performing on stages in the Midwest showcasing her inner flow through her captivating dance. She loves to perform to a wide variety of different music genres and enjoys teaching people how to flow to any type of music like she does. Erin also dabbles in many different types of arts as well as painting and creating handmade clothing when she is not busy spinning up smiles with her hula hoop.
